January recap

Jan 1st
We had a slow start of the year because of the cold winter outside. We lounged the entire day and stayed on our PJ's a lot.

Joshua enjoyed Julia’s IPod while Spencer and Julia played with my I pad.

Daniel got his first try of rice cereal which he surprisingly liked. None of the other kids liked it

The kids spent the last days of their Christmas break watching some of the movies that Santa brought them and eating popcorn.

Snow, snow and more snow
We had a blizzard and is lasting for an entire week.  The sky has been very cloudy or foggy during these days and I missed the sun much. We were even chosen to be the city with the worst air in the world because the inversion kept the air trapped in Utah. I made it a big deal whenever a ray of sunshine escaped through the clouds. This is also the very first year that we actually had the need for snow pants. The kids got their first and loved playing in the snow until they realized that it was too deep to do anything. It reached Julia’s waist and it was a little bit under Joshua’s shoulder, Andrew went out once and he got lost in it so he didn’t want to try it again. One day we even had frozen rain, everywhere became an ice skating ring. Good thing I had just gotten new tires for my van because it was very scary out there.

Here is my little Andrew looking so cute on his new snow pants.

Another First
Moving into the solid food. First food: PeAs.  Daniel ate the entire jar of food; although most of it ended either on his cheeks or his shirt.

I hate how fast Daniel is growing. Today he started holding his own bottle L so very sad.

Joy school-Costco Field Trip
The time finally came for me to teach Joy school. I love doing it but i just get so stress out trying to get this ready for the kiddos. here they are after one of our days at school. they are truly a cute bunch.

I had also planned a field trip to Costco. The kids were so excited to learn how to become a Costco employee. They got name tags and were cashiering for a while. Too bad they didn’t let them drive the fork lift since they were all dyeing to do so.  We visited all the departments and found some fun on each one of them. The optical department was a hit with the sunglasses. The bakery smelled so good and the kids got to decorate their own cookie and loved to wear hair nets. They sampled some macaroni salad at the deli courtesy of Spencer and finally we went backstage on the food court and watched how they made pizzas. They gave the kids apple juice, cookies and a little frosty at the end, it was fantastic.

After our field trip we came home and Daniel was stripped down to his oncie and shoes. I love his chunky legs

Random picture of these two.  Julia is so in love with his baby brother. She has completely forgiving him for not being the baby girl she wanted.

Wacky day.....at least it feels like one. Gotta love their style

Footie pajamas

Julia has been so sad that all three of her brothers had footie pajamas to wear and she had none. I tried to tell her that she was now too big for those. This weekend I happened to go into the carter’s store because of a clearance sale they were having. I usually stock up on pajamas for the kids, so looking through the racks I found one last and lonely size 8 footie pajama. She about fainted when I showed it to her. After all the discounts it turned out to be $4 so I had to buy it for her. That night she was so excited to get ready for bed and wanted me to take a picture of all of them on their matching PJ's.

Joshua's Tumbling

This boy is getting so good at tumbling. He has a blast and looks forward to it every week. I'd rather have him in karate but I don't have $ 80 a month for that. He has become more coordinated and is growing a lot of muscles. His favorite trick to do is a handstand for 10 seconds. His favorite thing to do in class...bungees

One big scary day
I was doing laundry this day and I had left Joshua and Andrew watching TV upstairs. After 30 minutes of not hearing the boys I walked upstairs to check on them. Joshua was sitting down at the table concentrated on a puzzle. Then I checked on every room for Andrew and Andrew was nowhere to be found. I dashed through the basement and still no Andrew. I was yelling his name going all around the house like crazy just to hear silence. Then I got worried that he actually went outside. He can open the door now so there was nobody to stop him. I checked up and down my street including the dirt pile by the end of the street.  Then all these bad thoughts came to my mind. I came back inside the house and asked Joshua if he had seen his brother one last time but he said he had no idea where he was. I was panicking by now and in tears and as I was ready to call 911 I got this feeling to check behind the couch in my living room. I had checked one end but had totally ignored the other side. Right as I picked over the couch I found this:

He fell asleep by the heating vent...

Virus
We finished up this month with a severe virus. Poor little Daniel got it first and decided to be a good brother and share it with Andrew. Symptoms were throwing up, messy diapers, fever, stuffy nose, bad cough, weakness, loss of appetite, aches, body pain did I mentioned throwing up?

The first couple of days were OK but nights were horrid. Andrew started first but almost froze for a week while little Daniel was suffering (thank goodness) I don’t know how I could have managed 2 sick kids. I decided to spare Spencer and camped out at the couch with Daniel for several days.

I didn’t enjoy this bug at all I smelled like vomit all day long I had so much laundry to do because I had to change clothes about 10 times a day not to mention the kids piles of smelly laundry that I had to do at the same time.

As soon as Danny got better, Andrew went down with it. He had a fever of 105 one day and developed pink eye. My baby was out of it. He didn’t want to eat or do anything all he cared about was sleeping and rocking himself on Daniel’s swing. He lost 7 pounds in 1 week.

No pictures of my misery just memories of my sore back for sleeping too many nights on the couch and black circles for my lack of sleep.

So February is up to a weak start but hopefully no one else gets sick
