July recap

This summer has been really dry. In an effort to conserve water we only had to water the grass (and kids) twice a week.

First haircut
07/02
Daniel’s hair started to get out of control so with a heavy heart I had to let spencer give him his first haircut. He was so good. I guess he had tickles on his head or something because he kept laughing.

Is that really me?

Growing up
Daniel has been standing up for a couple of months now. I can’t understand why he wants to keep on growing. He is excellent at shuffling around and has become quite the crawler. He can be by the dishwasher in seconds if he hears me doing dishes. He is a great helper too. He grabs cups and silverware and passes them to me so I can put them away.

4th of July
We totally missed the parade. Oh well there is always next year. In the afternoon we went over to grandma smith’s house where the kids were able to play with the cousins and get wet.

After a delicious B-B-Q, we headed back home to watch the fireworks. We could see fireworks everywhere around us from our street. We finally had to forced ourselves to come inside after 11 pm. Our neighbors across the street bought cases of aerials fireworks so we also enjoyed a private show.
OOPS!

Ok I will admit it once and for all. I can’t cut my kids hair. It just seems so simple but as you can see I screwed up big time with Josh’s.
His hair looked so bad that we opted to just cut it all. Spencer was nice enough to fix my mess.
Joshua was almost in tears when he saw himself in the mirror with a shaved head. Sorry buddy, I promise you will never be my guinea pig ever again.
Good thing I still have Andrew and Daniel, just kidding!

Rusty and Rosy graduation

Although Joshua graduated from preschool on early May, he still had to do homework every day for the Upstart program. We have loved this program so much. It has helped Joshua so much. I am certain that he will have a successful year in kindergarten because of it.

Pioneer Day
We went to grandma’s house where we had great food and played pioneer games.

We finished the day with a pioneer song, story and some fireworks.

Greg, Luke and Andrew got the best spots to watch the fireworks!

Library Fun
We went to a couple more activities at the library before the end of summer. We saw a magic show and the kids were able to learn about catapults. They were given the resources to build their very own catapult.

The kids had to show their muscles before they went to build their catapults. Joshua's expression is almost saying: Yeap! I got them.

Kangaroo Zoo
If the kids read every day for 30 minutes they were able to earn a prize. The top prize of the summer was a visit to kangaroo zoo.

The kids had fun going from bouncy house to bouncy house, even Daniel joined in the fun.
